The History of Valentine’s Day.

History of Valentines DayValentine’s Day has long been celebrated as a day to give gifts to your loved ones but we’ve often wondered about the history of this mysterious Saint!

A legend by the Catholic Church states that Valentine was a third century priest in Rome.  During this time, Emperor Claudius II concluded that single men were better soldiers than married men with wives and children. Marriages for young men were subsequently banned.

Valentine saw the injustice in this new law and secretly continued to perform marriages for young men.  When discovered, Claudius ordered that Valentine be put to death.

Today, Valentine’s Day is the second largest card giving holiday of the year and approximately one billion cards are sent each year!

Beautiful Wedding Location and Passionate Wedding Vendors at The Vineyards.

The Vineyards Wedding LocationIt’s the answer to your prayers right? A beautiful wedding location filled with a room of talented and passionate wedding professionals! No, it’s not a dream! This really does exist.

Last week we were honored to attend the annual Bridal Open House at The Vineyards in Simi Valley. The mention of a wedding show usually brings to mind a bland banquet hall filled with hundreds of vendors who are either bored and uninterested or desperate for your business. Well imagine the exact opposite when you think of The Vineyards.

This amazing wedding venue located just outside Los Angeles in Simi Valley features several function rooms nestled between outdoor patios, garden areas and waterfalls. Each room has a unique style and character of its own. Sounds too good to be true right? Well it only gets better! The family who owns and operates The Vineyards is truly it’s greatest feature! The passion, care and love they put into each event is unsurpassed. They personally take on each event, one at a time, and provide a personal service not to be found anywhere else.

Add to that a hand picked selection of passionate wedding professionals. Each one talented and dedicated and eager to help you plan your wedding. We love attending this event each year and look forward to meeting the newly engaged couples and introducing our services to them.

We also enjoyed catching up with some wedding professional friends! It was great to see Deana Cobey of Deana Michelle Photography, Antoinette Peragine The Wedding Buddha and  Laurie Comeaux of Unique Floral Designs. We love working with Deana, Antoinette and Laurie as they provide the highest level of passion, dedication and professionalism. Check them out if you still need to find your photographer, wedding officiant or florist.

So you see…dreams do come true. Planning your wedding need not be so stressful when you enlist the help of true experts.

What is Trash the Dress Wedding Videography?

Trash the DressWhat on earth is Trash the Dress Wedding Videography? This is a question we hear all the time so thought we’d post our recent press release to explain it for you…

Fearless brides worldwide are donning their wedding gowns for a second time to create these edgy productions. Usually filmed a few days after the wedding, these Trash the Dress video shoots allow for a more relaxed atmosphere where the newlyweds can express their true personalities. TTD sessions accentuate the striking contrast between the traditional wedding gown and the unlikely location of the bride. Couples usually select locations and settings which reflect their individual interests and lifestyles allowing for a truly personal and artistic creation.

Terry Zarchi, Los Angeles wedding videographer and owner of American Event Productions, has experienced a significant growth in the number of brides interested in TTD packages. “Brides are no longer satisfied with the traditional wedding videos that their mothers had,” Zarchi said. “They are looking for creative options and our Trash the Dress package allows them to be adventurous without the worry of keeping their dress clean for the wedding ceremony ”.

With most brides having no plans to wear their dress again, Trash the Dress sessions provide daring brides with an unconventional alternative to just storing the boxed dress under the bed or in a closet. “Unlike the name suggests, most dresses are usually not destroyed and show no more signs of distress than the wear and tear generated at a typical wedding reception,” Zarchi said. Nothing that a trip to the local dry cleaner can not correct!

Hope this helped to explain this exciting trend for you. As always, let us know in the comments below if you have any questions about our Trash the Dress services.

Why Your Brother Should Not Film Your Weddding.

Many couples ask us why they need to hire a professional videographer to film their wedding and not ask their friend or relative to do it for them. While there are many reasons against using not hiring a pro, here are the most imortant ones…

  • Your friends and family want to enjoy your wedding. They want to be a guest and not have the responsibility of filming it for you.
  • Most Los Angeles Churches and Temples (and many other venues) have strict filming rules and regulations. Your friend/relative will not be familiar with these guidelines but a professional will be.
  • Professional videographers are experienced at shooting in different lighting situations. The lighting for your ceremony will be completely different from the lighting at your reception. An expert is able to quickly change the camera settings to adapt to any lighting set-up.
  • Professional videographers know how to capture great footage while staying in the background and out of the stoplight. Your loved ones will have good intentions however will not have the experience to know where to stand during the important moments of your wedding.
  • With all the great editing software available many people have dabbled in editing their own personal movies. However a professional videographer will be have been trained to edit your video to perfection. They’ll know how to piece together your masterpiece and seamlessly include all the priceless moments.

So although it may look like a great option for saving some money by using a friend to film your wedding, save yourself the worry and consider hiring an expert. You won’t regret it we promise!

One Camera or Two?

One of the most frequent questions we’re asked is how many camera operators you need at your wedding. The flat out honest answer to this question is one camera but that depends on how you would like your finished wedding video to look. We think the final program looks much better when 2 camera operators are used.

Here’s some priceless moments that we’ll be able to capture if you reserve more than one camera operator…

  • We’ll be able to catch the groom’s reaction as he sees you walk down the isle.
  • We’ll be able to capture the back of your wedding gown.
  • We’ll catch the reactions of your guests as your friends and family give their speeches and tell funny stories.
  • We’ll be able to film the ceremony from two different angles for more exciting coverage.

The list goes on and on. But please take a moment to watch this video which will show you some samples and explain the differences…

Hope the video helped answer this question. Let us know in the comments below if you have any other questions and we’d love to know how many cameras you plan to have at your wedding?
